VADnet Hero: Cormac Haverty, CEO Titan IoT, Ireland

“Members are the driving force behind the biggest PAN European cooperation of Value Added Distributors in the IoT industry. That’s why we call them ‘VADnet Heroes’.

This month we are zooming into Cormac Haverty, the no-nonsense CEO of Titan IoT, from Ireland. He’s a man who believes in keeping it simple, enjoying life, and finding the perfect pint of Guinness. This is the story of a man who co-founded a company, helped it evolve, and found a home in the VADnet community.

From IT to IoT: A Journey of Grit and Growth

Cormac, alongside his co-founding partner Kevin McNamara, started their company in 2001 as an IT system integrator. What followed was a constant evolution, adapting to the ever-changing tech landscape. They shifted from firewalls and radio systems to fiber cabling and eventually developed their own mesh networks in e.g. the cities of Galway and Limerick.

Since 2018, they’ve been connecting traffic lights and digital signage, using both fiber and cellular modems. It evolved into the Titan IoT division. Today, the Titan Group includes Titan Infrastructure, Titan Telecom, and Titan IoT.  Cormac is leading the Titan group, with a dedicated team of seven and numerous contractors. The Titan IoT division focuses on providing fully-staged wireless connectivity solutions to their customers. Titan IoT stands pride on their trust and reliability, which they have built up during the years and which is a successful tool to attract new customers.

The VADnet Advantage: Where Group Action Pays Off

Cormac was introduced to VADnet by Fergal Concannon, who worked for vendor B&B Electronics, later taken over by Advantech. But also at the same time, he met Manual Rives from Vitriko Spain, who was already a VADnet member But what really sealed the deal for him joining VADnet, was the community’s commitment to knowledge-sharing and the discussion of various vendors.

But the benefits don’t stop there. VADnet gives Titan IoT access to a central European warehouse and offers price advantages through group purchasing. It’s a testament to the power of collaboration.

The Man Behind Internet of Things

When he’s not busy leading Titan IoT, Cormac enjoys the simple pleasures in life. He shares his home with his partner Evelyn and their cocker spaniel, Jake. His favorite meal is roasted vegetables with soy sauce, but there’s a catch—it must be prepared by Evelyn. Is that the reason they are still together?

Cormac’s leisure time is spent in the city of Galway, where he enjoys jazz on Sundays or sips on a glass of wine.

But he also converted a van into a camper for future travels, which he likes doing, e.g. in France. His favourite country though is Vietnam, too far for travelling with a camper van, but a beautiful place to visit and really nice honest people .

His favorite book is “History of the World” by Andrew Marr. A documentary book that covers 70,000 years of world history from before the beginning of human civilisation up to the twentieth century.

And when listening to music, he’s a fan of the multilingual lyrics and eclectic fusion of genres from Manu Chao. That means: when the sun goes out, then Manu Chao goes on….

And while he jokes about being a bad sleeper with a head “always going” , he’s always ready to go to a Galway pub for a good time, even if you would wake him up in the middle of the night.

His life motto? “Keep it simple and enjoy”. This no-nonsense attitude is also reflected in his wish to implement telemedicine solutions quicker if he were the European President for 24 hours. He believes that your health is your wealth.

It’s clear why Cormac is one of our VADnet heroes. He’s a seasoned professional with a down-to-earth personality, and we’re proud to have him as a member.  And as many Irish people do, Cormac brings in a lot of ‘craic’ and a good share of (self depricating) humor.
